Mi chiamo Giovanni Orlando e mi piace andare in montagna. Pratico soprattutto escursionismo e trail running (quest’ultimo a Monte Pellegrino, a Palermo, dove vivo); raramente vado in mountain bike. Su questo sito pubblico le foto delle mie escursioni, riflessioni, racconti e news che riguardano i monti della Sicilia, ma non solo.
Dal 2019 organizzo le escursioni del Club Alpino Siciliano insieme a Sandro Turdo. Questa attività mi ha fatto imparare moltissimo su come andare in montagna (orientamento, tecnica del cammino, abbigliamento e attrezzatura adatti, valutazione del meteo, ecc.) e su come accompagnare altre persone a fare questa esperienza (gestione di gruppi, valutazione del rischio, supporto emotivo, primo soccorso, ecc.). Attualmente ho organizzato più di 100 escursioni, per un totale di più di 1000 ore di accompagnamento. Sono anche membro dell’Associazione Guide Ambientali Europee (AGAE).

My name is Giovanni Orlando, and I love spending time in the mountains. I mostly go hiking and trail running (the latter on Monte Pellegrino in Palermo, where I live); occasionally, I go mountain biking. On this website, I publish photos of my hikes, thoughts, stories, and news regarding Sicily’s mountains, as well as other topics.
Since 2019, I’ve been co-organizing the walks of the Sicilian Alpine Club. Thanks to this activity, I’ve learned a huge amount about hiking (GPS maps, walking techniques, types of clothing and equipment, weather forecast interpretation, etc.) and how to accompany people in mountain environments (group management, risk assessment, emotional support, first aid, etc.). I’ve currently organized more than 100 hikes, for a total of more than 1,000 hours of guiding. I’m also a member of AGAE, the Association of European Nature Guides.
